Nostalgia - April 2022

April 2022 - you were a rollercoaster of emotions. You brought happiness, sadness, nostalgia, laughter, love and of course, lots of inspiration.

This monochrome series took me by surprise as I wasn’t planning on starting something new so quickly. My emotions got the better of me, as they normally do, and I was overwhelmed with the motivation to paint. These shapes of varying shades symbolise the perfect storm going on in my mind - my neurones firing, my thoughts twisting, my observations ebbing and my attention fading.

 

Being able to translate these sensations on canvas was peculiar and unusual, yet freeing and rejuvenating. Going through rough times is, unfortunately, part and parcel of life and I look at my art as renewed, refreshed and revitalised memories of something I, and many people, have overcome and survived.
